Chi

I want to slip inside your skin
Fill your lungs and slide
Through your veins —
Like Chi —
A silent penetration of your defenses.
You might pause
Sensing the invasion even as
You wouldn’t know how to escape it
You might run your hands over your body even as
You wouldn’t know where to find the source of your ecstasy
You might fall to the ground even as
You couldn’t see the tendrils of my misty form
Tracing the edges of your stomach,
Where you’ve never felt
Quite well sated.
When you threw your head back
And parted your lips to moan
With tears bleeding down your face
Signaling the crucifixion of your isolation
I would warm your bones,
To still your persistent shivering
And caress your heart,
Gently
I would mold myself in your arms
Around your beautiful, broad shoulders
That self contained of you and me
So you would know
how it feels
to be loved.
